Non - Assignment ExampleWhen a situation is fed into the flow chart, a clearer view of the emblem of termination in hand should emerge. In theory it will enlighten a manager to the potential difference risks and benefits of involving others in that decision. In practice, however, there are some potential problems with the model as it is intended to be used. First of all there is an issue about the amount and quality of information that is fed into the decision making process. Poor information at any point in the model will wear its reliability. Furthermore, Chemers makes the very valid point that the Vroom-Yetton-Jago model and other prescriptive models assume that leaders can well change their behaviors in accord with situational demands. (Chemers 1997, p. 52) Managers often act instinctively, however, based on their experience in a decision-making role and their own personal style. This inherent tendency, along with pressures of time mean that the application of the Vroom-Yett on-Jago is theoretically useful, curiously for inexperienced managers, but in practice not likely to be fully implemented, especially by more experienced managers.
